The Your Eurovision Song Contest was the brainchild of Glenn of the Your Eurovision Broadcasting Union (YEBU). The contest was based on the Eurovision Song Contest and was designed to bridge the long period between two Eurovision Song Contests.
The first contest took place on 1 May 2013, where twenty-seven nations participated. As the contest progressed, the rules grew increasingly complex and participation levels rose to past seventy nations. As more countries came on board over subsequent editions, YEBU introduced the quarter-final where new players and the bottom players of the previous edition have to compete to win the last tickets to participate in the semi-finals.
