Your Eurovision Thessaloniki May 2014


Your Eurovision May 2014 was the 9th edition of Your Eurovision. It took place in Thessaloniki, Greece, following Nikki Ponte's victory in the Winter 2014 edition with the song "Remembering The Summer Nights". It was announced during the meeting of the Head of Delegations in February 2014 that the dates for the two semi-finals are 17 May 2014 and 24 May 2014, with the final planned for the evening of 31 May 2014. 

 

49 countries took part during Your Eurovision May 2014, with Albania, Armenia, Cyprus, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Moldova, Monaco and Portugal returning. Austria, Colombia, Faroe Islands, Greenland, Kosovo, Philippines, Slovakia and Switzerland withdrew from the competition.

 

In the end, Slovenia won  the contest for the first time, with Maja Keuc's song 'Close To You'.

Location


After the winner's press conference, YE Greece announced that the May edition would take place in Thessaloniki, in the National Theatre of Northern Greece.

Format


After the meeting of the Head of Delegations, it was announced that the maximum of 49 participants would not change for the May edition. A total of 49 countries took part. A number of 24 countries  participated in each Semi-Final, 12 of them qualified for the Grand Final in each Semi-Final. The host country joined them in the Grand Final.

 

The official tagline for the contest was 'Go For Gold!'.
