Your Eurovision Song Contest Sydney 2016.1

Your Eurovision Song Contest 2016.1 would have been the 15th edition of the Your Eurovision Song Contest. It should've taken place in Sydney, Australia, following Delta Goodrem's victory in the 2015 edition with the song "Wings". The contest was scheduled to consist of a quarter-final, two semi-finals and a final, with the preliminary date for the quarter final being 20 March 2016, for the semi finals being 3 and 10 April 2016, and for the final, 24 April 2016.

On 13 February 2016, it was confirmed by the YEBU that 57 countries would take part in the 2016.1 Your Eurovision Song Contest. However, it was later announced that due to the shutdown of the broadcasting channel the show would not take place. India, Singapore and Uzbekistan were set to make their debut at the contest.

Venue

The Allphones Arena in Sydney, which has a capacity of approximately 21.000 attendees, was announced as the host venue on 22 December 2015.

Format

After the meeting of the Head of Delegations, it was announced that a maximum of 46 countries was able to participate in the Semi-finals and Grand Final (Big 6 + 20 in Semi-final 1 and 20 in Semi-final 2).

The bottom 5 of Semi-final 1 and the bottom 5 of Semi-final 2 of the previous edition would have taken part in the quarter-final, together with the quarter-finalists of the previous edition and some new countries. They would've fought for the last 10 tickets in the Semi-finals.

The official tagline for the cancelled contest was 'Inspired'.
