Your Eurovision Almelo Winter 2014


Your Eurovision Winter 2014 was the 8th edition of the Your Eurovision Song Contest. It took place in Almelo, The Netherlands, following Sandra van Nieuwland's victory in the December 2013 edition with the song "Hunter". It was announced during the meeting of the Head of Delegations in December 2013 that the dates for the two semi-finals are 19 January 2014 and 9 February 2014, with the final planned for the evening of 12 March 2014.

 

47 countries took part in Your Eurovision Winter 2014, with F.Y.R. Macedonia, Slovakia, South Korea, Switzerland, Turkey and Ukraine returning. Barbados, Colombia, Lebanon, Philippines and Turkmenistan (later disqualified) took part for the very first time. Albania, Algeria, Belarus, Brazil, Cyprus, Indonesia, Japan, Latvia, Moldova and Monaco withdrew from the competition.

 

In the end, Greece won the contest with Nikki Ponte and her song "Remembering The Summer Nights".

Location


After the winner's press conference, YE.NL announced that the Winter edition would take place in Almelo, in the Polman Stadium.

Format


A total of 47 countries took part. A number of 22 countries  participated in each Semi-Final, 12 of them qualified for the Grand Final in each Semi-Final. The host country and the lucky country joined them in the Grand Final.

 

The official tagline for the contest was 'Unbreakable'.
