Your Eurovision Song Contest Amsterdam 2020.2

Your Eurovision Song Contest 2020.2 will be the 2nd edition of the rebooted Your Eurovision Song Contest and the 16th edition overall, that will be held in Amsterdam, The Netherlands, after the victory of Davina Michelle with the song “Skyward” in the 2020.1 edition in Düsseldorf. It will be the first time that The Netherlands will host the rebooted series of the contest, with the country having hosted the original run of the contest three times. Organised by the Your Eurovision Broadcasting Union (YEBU) and the host broadcaster “Your Eurovision The Netherlands - YE.NL", the contest will consist of one quarterfinal, that will be held on October 17, two semi-finals, that will be on October 31 and November 14, and the Grand Final on November 28, 2020.

For the first time since the original run in 2015, the Quarterfinal was reintroduced in Your Eurovision, because of the large number of confirmed participants. The Quarterfinal consists of the bottom 5 places of Your Eurovision 2020.1 (places 44-48, in case the HoD that had a country in these places continues in this edition) and the new HoDs of the current edition, no matter the country they’ve chosen (e.g. Germany finished 3rd in the previous edition, but due to the change of the person that is participating with this country, Germany will have to go through the Quarterfinal). The eight countries with the highest scores in the Quarterfinal will continue in the semi-finals.

59 countries will take part in this edition, with Armenia, Bahamas, Barbados, Bulgaria, Colombia, Cyprus, Estonia, Faroe Islands, Indonesia, Jamaica, Liberia, Liechtenstein, Monaco, Morocco, New Zealand, Nigeria, Philippines, San Marino, Serbia, United Kingdom and Vietnam debuting. Czech Republic, England, Iran, Japan, Latvia, Northern Ireland, Scotland, US Virgin Islands and Wales withdrew from the contest.

Location

On August 24, 2020, the following cities confirmed their interest for the bidding phase, in which the venue and the host city were decided on September 7th. The host venue will be in Ziggo Dome, with the host city being Amsterdam.

On September 7th 2020, the host broadcaster YE.NL and YEBU announced that Amsterdam would host the second edition of the rebooted series, with Ziggo Dome being the venue. The arena holds up to 16,000 people. Rotterdam withdrew on September 1st, due to the huge cost of the city that is spent on the Eurovision Song Contest 2021, and the cancelled 2020 Eurovision Song Contest.

Semi-Final Allocation Draw

The draw to determine the participating countries' semi-finals took place on September 12 2020, at Amsterdam's City Hall. The semi-finalists were divided over five pots, based on alphabetical order, as in the pilot edition. Drawing from different pots helped to maintain the inviolable and fair spirit of the contest. The draw also determined in which semi-final each of the six automatic qualifiers votes. The ceremony was hosted by 2020.1 Your Eurovision Song Contest winner, Davina Michelle, and included the passing of the host city insignias from Thomas Geisel, Mayor of Düsseldorf (host city of the previous contest) to Femke Halsema, Mayor of Amsterdam.
